Signalis, Big Walk, Dying Light 2 – PS Plus's August
PlayStation Plus subscribers are getting a solid trio in August, but for handheld enthusiasts, the real story is how many of these games are already natively available on portable devices – or will be soon. While Sony’s subscription service doesn’t stream to handhelds (unless you count Remote Play), the games themselves are cross-platform gems that play perfectly on Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and Nintendo Switch. Here’s what handheld gamers should know about August’s PS Plus headliners.
Signalis and Big Walk: Perfect for Portable Play
Signalis is a survival horror masterpiece that already has a native Switch port, and it runs beautifully on Steam Deck and ROG Ally thanks to its retro pixel art and lightweight engine. You can expect 60fps at 10W TDP on Deck, giving you well over five hours of battery life – rare for a modern horror game. Meanwhile, Big Walk from the Untitled Goose Game studio (House House) is a multiplayer adventure that hits Nintendo Switch 2 later this year. Its low-poly art style and small install size (likely under 2GB) make it a perfect lunch-break co-op title. Both games are indie darlings that feel right at home on a handheld, much like the titles in the recent freebies flood for Steam Deck.
Dying Light 2: The AAA Challenger for Handheld PCs
Techland’s open-world zombie epic Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition is the heaviest hitter in the lineup. While it never landed on Switch (except via cloud streaming), it’s fully playable on Steam Deck and Windows handhelds like the ROG Ally and Legion Go. On Steam Deck, expect a stable 30fps with FSR set to Performance and low-to-medium settings – a decent trade-off for parkour traversal and dense cityscapes. The Reloaded Edition bundles all post-launch content, so you’re getting the complete experience. Battery life will sit around 90 minutes at 15W TDP, but that’s par for the course with this generation of AAA ports. If you own a handheld PC, this is a compelling reason to download it via PS Plus – or just buy it on Steam when it’s on sale, alongside upcoming indie releases like Ascent DX.
