Switch 2 Deals and MGS Collection Discounts: A Portable Gamer’s
A wave of discounts this week targets exactly what portable gamers need: cheaper hardware and deeper libraries, joining Best Buy’s Black Friday in July sale. Woot is selling the Nintendo Switch 2 for $399 with code GIFT26 — a $50 cut ahead of an anticipated September price hike. Konami’s Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1 is half off at Best Buy for $19.99, bringing three stealth classics to Switch at a price that makes double-dipping painless. Both deals carry outsized value for handheld owners.
The Switch 2 Window Is Closing
Woot’s $399 price on a new Switch 2 is more than a discount—it is a timing signal on top of refurbished bundle deals available elsewhere. The source indicates a September price increase is incoming, making this one of the last chances to grab Nintendo’s new hardware at its launch price. First-time Woot customers get the full $50 off; returning users save $22. The Grade-A refurbished bundle with Mario Kart World at $439 effectively gives away the $80 game for free. For portable players, the Switch 2’s faster wake times, improved battery management, and backward compatibility are meaningful upgrades for on-the-go use. Mario Kart World itself is optimized for short burst sessions — a natural fit for handheld play patterns — and the hardware’s power efficiency improvements make this deal a straightforward recommendation for anyone still on the fence about upgrading.
Metal Gear Solid Belongs on a Handheld
The Master Collection Vol.1 at $19.99 is a steal on any platform, but it earns its keep on Switch. MGS1’s codec-driven pacing and corridor infiltration fit perfectly into short transit rides. MGS2 and MGS3 demand longer sessions, but the suspend-resume capability — a feature handheld players depend on — makes the full collection work as a portable experience. Bonus content including screenplay books and master books adds depth for players who want to dig into the series’ lore without a TV nearby. The discount cuts the price in half from $39.99, and the collection’s three games offer dozens of hours of stealth gameplay that holds up remarkably well on a 7-inch screen. The Anker Nano II 65W charger is also on sale for $19.99, a universal fast charger that works with Switch 2, Steam Deck, and USB-C laptops — useful for anyone looking to reduce charging downtime across multiple devices.
