FFVII Remake Intergrade Hits $8.98 on Switch 2 — Here's the Trick

Square Enix’s Switch 2 port of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is down to $9.99 on the Nintendo eShop through September 30 — a 75% cut from the $39.99 it sells for everywhere else. That alone is a deal worth flagging to anyone building out a Switch 2 library. But there’s a two-step workaround that shaves the price down to $8.98: grab a $10 Nintendo eShop digital gift card from Amazon for $8.98, then spend it on the game. You’re looking at roughly $31 saved on a full current-gen console RPG that runs natively on a handheld.

For handheld players, the math here is unusually kind. This isn’t a cut-down mobile spin-off or a cloud-streaming stub — it’s the same Yuffie-inclusive package that launched on PS5 in 2021, and it’s sitting in your digital library for the price of a coffee. If you’ve been waiting for a reason to start the FFVII trilogy on Switch 2 before the final chapter arrives in 2027, this is the cheapest on-ramp you’re going to get.

The $8.98 Workaround: A Gift Card Loophole Worth Two Minutes

The trick is dumb in the best way. Buy the Amazon-listed $10 eShop card for $8.98, redeem the code, then apply it to the $9.99 purchase — you’re now out-of-pocket under nine bucks for a game that normally retails at a console price. It’s a digital-only play, and for a Switch 2 owner that’s actually a feature rather than a compromise: no cartridge to swap, no case to carry, and one more reason to leave the game card slot empty when you travel. The flip side is storage. Switch 2’s 256GB of internal memory fills fast with current-gen RPGs, and microSD Express expansion isn’t cheap, so a bargain-basement purchase still costs you a meaningful slice of drive space. That’s the honest tradeoff — the price is a steal, the install footprint is not.

The bigger picture for bargain hunters: this is the kind of first-party eShop sale that doesn’t come around often for a game still selling at full freight. With the sale closing September 30, you’ve got a hard deadline, and the gift card angle only makes sense while the discount holds.

Revelation Lands Day One on Switch 2 — That’s the Actual Headline

The deal is the hook, but the timing is the story. Sony announced earlier this year that the trilogy’s final chapter, Final Fantasy VII Revelation, arrives April 2027 — and this time Switch 2 players won’t be stuck waiting a year-plus for a port, because the Switch 2 release is landing day-and-date with every other platform. That’s a real shift in how Square Enix is treating Nintendo’s hardware. Remake Intergrade didn’t reach Switch 2 until January of this year, roughly four years after the PS5 Intergrade edition. Revelation closes that gap entirely.

On performance, the source material is thin: IGN’s Switch 2 re-review noted the console “handles the game quite well,” but no frame rate or resolution numbers were disclosed, so I won’t invent them. What we can say is that this is a full-fat port of a 2021 current-gen release running natively, and it’s the only way to play Remake on a handheld with the INTERmission Yuffie DLC baked in. If you want to be caught up on Cloud’s story — the Weapons, the final Sephiroth confrontation — before April 2027, buying in now gives you six months of handheld grinding time and a save file you can suspend mid-mission. That’s the case for grabbing it at $8.98 while the window’s open.
